State of Kuwait praises the important role of humanitarian organizations and the significant contributions made by humanitarian workers
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s appreciation for the vital role played by humanitarian organizations and the significant contributions made by humanitarian workers, as well as their efforts to deliver aid to those in need, save lives, and alleviate the suffering of victims of conflicts and disasters in various parts of the world. These efforts come at a time when humanitarian needs are growing and the challenges facing humanitarian action are intensifying.
In a statement marking World Humanitarian Day, observed today, Wednesday, the Ministry paid solemn tribute to the sacrifices of humanitarian workers, emphasizing the necessity of strengthening their protection, ensuring their security and safety, and enabling them to carry out their humanitarian duties safely. It also stressed the importance of guaranteeing the safe, rapid, and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to all those in need, as well as the importance of respecting the provisions of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
In this context, the Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s welcome of the Human Rights Council’s adoption, during its sixty-second session, of the consensus resolution titled “The impact of obstructing and impeding the delivery of humanitarian assistance and of attacks on the safety of humanitarian workers on the enjoyment of human rights in armed conflicts.” Initiated by Kuwait, the resolution represents an important step toward enhancing international efforts to protect humanitarian workers, facilitate the delivery of aid to those in need, and strengthen respect for relevant international obligations.
On this occasion, the Ministry affirmed Kuwait’s continued commitment to its steadfast policy of extending assistance to those in need and enhancing cooperation with the United Nations and humanitarian organizations, driven by its firm dedication to humanitarian action and its belief in the importance of international solidarity and cooperation in addressing crises. This reflects Kuwait’s role as an active partner in supporting humanitarian efforts at both the regional and international levels.
