Interior Ministry: 12 suspects arrested with narcotics and psychoactive substances for trafficking and consumption

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, announced on Sunday the arrest of 12 suspects in eight separate cases involving possession of narcotics and psychoactive substances with intent to traffic and consume.
In a press statement, the ministry said that the Narcotics Control Department succeeded in apprehending the suspects following a series of surveillance and investigative operations. In one case, the seized quantity amounted to approximately 86,700 capsules of Lyrica, along with various quantities of narcotics and psychoactive substances, as well as several sensitive scales.
It added that in another case, in joint coordination with the General Customs Authority, one suspect was arrested after receiving a shipment imported from abroad. It was found that the narcotics had been concealed within decorative panels. Upon confrontation with the seized items, the suspect admitted to receiving instructions from an individual outside the country to receive the shipment in exchange for a financial payment.
The ministry clarified that all suspects and seized items have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them.
