US Senate Confirms Todd Blanche as Attorney General

The US Senate on Saturday confirmed Todd Blanche, former personal attorney to President Donald Trump, as attorney general, after Republicans in the chamber dismissed Democratic concerns about the politicization of the Justice Department.

Blanche recently served as acting attorney general and had represented Trump in his capacity as his personal lawyer in several criminal trials before joining the administration. The Senate, where Republicans hold a slim majority, confirmed his appointment by a vote of 50 to 49.
