Minister of Finance: August 2 will remain a firmly entrenched national milestone in the memory of every Kuwaiti

Finance Minister Dr. Yaqoub Al-Rafai affirmed that August 2 will remain a firm national milestone in the memory of every Kuwaiti, through which we recall the unity of ranks and the cohesion between the leadership and the people, and the will that triumphed over the occupation, ensuring that Kuwait remains free, proud, and unyielding.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of the State of Kuwait, which coincides with today, Sunday, Minister Al-Rafai said, “We recall with pride and reverence the sacrifices of the sons of the homeland who defended Kuwait’s land and sovereignty, and we pray for the righteous martyrs who inscribed the highest meanings of loyalty and belonging with their blood.”
He added, “On this occasion, we renew our pledge of loyalty to our beloved homeland, affirming that love for Kuwait is not merely a slogan to be raised, but a responsibility we translate into action, sincerity, and the protection of the state’s assets and the service of citizens, each in their respective roles.”
He stressed that the brutal invasion would not be forgotten and would remain a national lesson passed down through generations, reinforcing commitment to national unity, safeguarding Kuwait’s security and stability, and preserving its sovereignty and independence.
He prayed to Almighty God to protect Kuwait and its people, and to perpetuate upon it the blessings of security, safety, stability, and prosperity under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of the State, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and guard him, and the leadership of His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and to grant them success in all that benefits the nation and enhances its standing. We also ask Almighty God to envelop Kuwait’s righteous martyrs in His boundless mercy and forgiveness, for He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive to supplication.
