Oil Minister: The Anniversary of the Brutal Iraqi Invasion Reinforces the Oil Sector’s Responsibility to Protect Kuwait’s Wealth and Enhance Energy Security

Oil Minister Tariq Al-Roumi affirmed that the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi aggression will remain an eternal national milestone in Kuwait’s history. He stated that the Ministry of Oil and the oil sector draw from this national occasion the meanings of responsibility and dedication in continuing efforts to preserve the nation’s oil wealth, considering it one of the fundamental pillars of the national economy, enhancing energy security, and supporting the path of sustainable development, thereby contributing to realizing the political leadership’s aspirations and serving the country and its citizens.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Oil on this occasion, which coincides with today, Sunday, Minister Al-Roumi said that the brutal Iraqi aggression embodied the resilience of the Kuwaiti people, their unity, and their rallying around their legitimate leadership, as well as the immortal heroism of the martyrs and the sacrifices of prisoners and the missing, and all those who contributed to defending the country and restoring its sovereignty.

He noted that during that pivotal phase, the Kuwaiti people presented an exceptional national model of cohesion, steadfastness, and faith in the justice of their cause. He emphasized that this anniversary will remain deeply rooted in the consciousness of every Kuwaiti as a national lesson that reinforces the values of unity, loyalty, and belonging, and underscores the importance of preserving Kuwait’s security and stability and safeguarding its achievements.

On this national occasion, the Oil Minister extended the highest expressions of loyalty and gratitude to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and to His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect and guard them, and to His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, may God protect him. He prayed to Almighty God to protect Kuwait, its leadership, and its people, and to perpetuate upon it the blessings of security, safety, stability, and prosperity.
