Kuwait University: Acceptance of 8,409 students meeting the requirements for the first semester of 2026-2027

Kuwait University announced on Thursday the acceptance of 8,409 Kuwaiti students, male and female, who are high school graduates and meet the admission requirements, for the first semester of the 2026–2027 academic year.

Dr. Fadel Aziz, Acting Dean of Admissions and Registration at Kuwait University, stated in a press statement that all applicants who met the admission criteria and selected all their preferred choices were accepted.

He clarified that this figure does not include students accepted into external scholarships or Abdullah Al-Salem University, nor those whose equivalent GPA or secondary school percentage does not align with their selected choices, the minimum admission thresholds, or the fixed quotas.

Dr. Aziz noted that students can identify their accepted major by accessing their submitted enrollment application or through the unified government electronic services application (Sahel). He explained, “The digital code associated with each student’s name corresponds to their accepted major. Students can verify their major by referring to the table of minimum percentages, where the code is listed alongside the major’s name.”

He emphasized that Kuwait University ensured transparency in its admission criteria by publishing the equivalent GPAs and minimum secondary school percentages required for admission to all majors and colleges.

He added that competition for seats in all colleges was based on the equivalent GPA or secondary school percentage, without discrimination between male and female applicants. The equivalent GPA is calculated based on the results of the academic aptitude tests required by each college, in addition to the student’s secondary school percentage.

He pointed out that students may submit a new enrollment application for the second semester during a period to be announced later by the Dean of Admissions and Registration. According to the University Council’s decision, “no modifications can be made to the majors specified in the enrollment application after the submission period has ended.”

Dr. Aziz stated that after the admission results are announced, Kuwaiti high school graduates from the unified system and the Religious Institute who applied online, as well as those who submitted enrollment applications in person at the Admissions and Registration Hall, must pay a fee of 10 Kuwaiti dinars (approximately $32.40 USD) via the KNET payment system through the electronic admissions portal “to validate their admission.” He noted that these students are not required to visit the Admissions and Registration Hall to submit documents.

He added that Kuwaiti high school graduates from the American and British systems must visit the Admissions and Registration Hall to submit their documents and validate their admission between August 2 and 6, according to specific dates to be communicated via text messages.

He further stated that Kuwaiti students expected to graduate from British high schools, who submitted their enrollment applications electronically within the specified deadlines, must submit their final results to the Dean of Admissions and Registration within two working days of the announcement of their results. Their admission will be granted according to the published minimum thresholds, and their chances of acceptance are equal to those of their peers who completed their enrollment documents during the application submission period.

Dr. Aziz mentioned that the Dean of Admissions and Registration has set August 9 as the start date for course registration for new students. Each student’s registration appointment will be scheduled via SMS to their mobile phones, and students can check their registration dates through the website https://portal.ku.edu.kw/sis.

He conveyed congratulations from Kuwait University President Dr. Dina Al-Milhem to the admitted students, wishing them success and achievement in their university journey, and commended the efforts of university staff during the enrollment application submission period.
