State of Kuwait reaffirms its firm commitment to combating human trafficking as a transnational organized crime

On the occasion of the International Day against Human Trafficking, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s firm commitment to combating this transnational organized crime, which constitutes a serious violation of human rights and dignity. It reaffirmed its resolve to continue developing its national framework by strengthening the legislative and institutional architecture, supporting prevention, protection, and prosecution mechanisms, and intensifying awareness-raising and capacity-building programs, in line with its international obligations and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of enhancing international and regional cooperation, exchanging expertise, and developing partnerships with relevant stakeholders, thereby contributing to the prevention of human trafficking, the protection of victims, and the accountability of perpetrators.

The Ministry reiterated its support for the United Nations’ efforts to combat human trafficking, stressing that addressing this crime requires a comprehensive response grounded in respect for human rights, the rule of law, and effective international cooperation, thereby strengthening efforts to confront emerging patterns of this crime.

In this context, this year’s theme, “Trapped in the Fraud Trap,” highlights the exploitation of victims in cyber fraud centers and their coercion into committing crimes, underscoring the need to enhance joint efforts to protect victims and safeguard their rights.
