Boubyan Bank Maintains Inclusion in FTSE4Good Index, Reinforcing Its Leadership in Sustainability

Boubyan Bank K.S.C.P. (“Boubyan” or “the Bank”) announced its continued inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series following the periodic review conducted by FTSE Russell in June 2026.

Developed by FTSE Russell, the leading index and data provider, the FTSE4Good Index Series aims to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. The series is endorsed by a broad range of institutional investors to create and evaluate responsible investment funds and other investment products.

The index assessment is based on performance across key pillars, including corporate governance, health and safety, anti-corruption, and climate change, requiring targeted companies to meet rigorous and diverse ESG standards.

Boubyan Bank’s continued inclusion in this index reflects the Bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its ESG framework, enhance transparency and disclosure levels, and integrate sustainability standards into its overall strategy, operational processes, risk management approach, and decision-making mechanisms.

Commenting on this development, Mr. Fadel Abdullah, CEO – Kuwait at Boubyan Bank, stated: “Maintaining our position within the FTSE4Good Index Series embodies the continuous progress we are making in developing our ESG practices and governance, enhancing transparency, and embedding sustainability across all pillars of our business. Sustainability at Boubyan Bank is an integral part of our long-term strategy and serves as the primary driver of how we deliver sustainable impact to our clients, employees, community, and all stakeholders.”

The Bank reaffirmed its commitment to advancing its ESG agenda in line with global best practices, alongside supporting its continuous growth trajectory and achieving enduring long-term value.

Building on this momentum, Boubyan Bank continues to translate its ESG commitments into tangible initiatives covering various sustainability areas, supporting responsible business practices and delivering long-term added value to all stakeholders.

Over the past years, Boubyan Bank has made significant progress in integrating environmental standards into its core business activities, particularly in lending and risk management processes. Approximately 70% of its corporate credit portfolio underwent a detailed review to identify ESG-related risks and opportunities, underscoring its sustained focus on responsible financing and the development of risk measurement tools. Additionally, the Bank contributed to driving economic development by providing KWD 100 million in financing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and allocating KWD 23.5 million to sustainability-focused projects in 2025. These efforts help align the Bank’s portfolio with global sustainability trends, further cementing its approach to responsible lending.

Environmental responsibility remains a cornerstone of Bank AlBilad’s sustainability (ESG) agenda, with a growing focus on financing low-carbon, resource-efficient activities, expanding greenhouse gas monitoring, and developing scientific pathways for carbon reduction. Concurrently, alongside the development of waste management practices, the bank successfully maintained its “LEED” Gold certification for the operations and maintenance of its headquarters building.

On the social front, the bank reinforced its commitment to its customers, employees, and society at large. These efforts were crowned by its accreditation as a “Great Place to Work®,” alongside the launch of initiatives focused on employee safety and mental health, as well as the enhancement of work flexibility. The bank’s attention to diversity and inclusion was further reflected in a series of programs aimed at women’s empowerment and female entrepreneurship throughout the year.

The bank continued to support Kuwaitization plans by directing investments toward the development of national talent, expanding career growth opportunities, and nurturing a generation of promising professionals capable of leading the future of banking in Kuwait. Extending its developmental role beyond the workplace, Bank AlBilad sustained its effective community contributions through partnerships and initiatives focused on financial literacy—such as the “Be Aware” campaign launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in collaboration with the Kuwait Banks Association and local banks—entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

Regarding governance, Bank AlBilad continued to strengthen its supervisory framework and develop its internal audit system, while investing in enhancing its institutional readiness in areas such as business continuity, cybersecurity, data governance, and organizational resilience. In this context, the bank obtained the ISO 22301 certification for its Business Continuity Management System, reflecting its commitment to global best practices and supporting its long-term sustainable growth.

Additionally, the bank worked on enhancing its capabilities in handling Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data, improving its transparency levels and governance frameworks. This ensures precise measurement of environmental and social performance through a continuous, methodical approach, while aligning with international standards and evolving investor expectations.

Looking ahead, Bank AlBilad aims to leverage this progress by expanding sustainable financing activities, deepening its commitment to environmental and social issues, and elevating disclosure levels and tracking ESG performance indicators. These steps align with the state’s developmental trends, particularly Kuwait Vision 2035, and simultaneously reinforce Bank AlBilad’s commitment to achieving sustainable growth and delivering long-term value to its stakeholders.
