Spain advanced to the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, after defeating France 2-0.
The match, played at the AT&T Stadium in the United States, was evenly contested in the first half, with both sides adopting a cautious approach and relying on wide play and individual skills to create chances. Spain enjoyed a slight advantage, limiting France’s attacks and reducing their threat by closing down spaces. France attempted to rely on counter-attacks to score, but Spain’s defense remained resolute.
In the 20th minute, the referee awarded Spain a penalty after Lucas Digne fouled Lamine Yamal. Mikel Oyarzabal converted the spot-kick to give his team the lead.
Spain added a second goal through Pedro Porro in the 58th minute, asserting control in the second half. They dominated possession, shut down the pitch, and prevented France from reaching their goal, securing Spain’s passage to the final.
Spain will face the winner of tomorrow’s match between England and Argentina in the final.
