France reaches World Cup semi-finals after defeating Morocco 2-0

France advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the quarterfinals.

At Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, United States, the French team outperformed Morocco technically and controlled most of the match, securing the victory and a spot in the semifinals.

France started the match strongly, creating numerous chances against the Moroccan goal. In the 28th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to France, but Kylian Mbappé missed the opportunity after Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou made a save.

In the second half, France continued to press Morocco, resulting in the opening goal in the 60th minute through Kylian Mbappé. His teammate Ousmane Dembélé added a second goal in the 66th minute, sealing France’s progression to the final four.

France will face the winner of the Spain vs. Belgium match in the semifinals.
