Cairo -- The Arab League affirmed on Sunday that harmonizing the methods and procedures of joint Arab military operations has become a strategic imperative to ensure Arab national security amid the challenges and threats facing the region. This was stated by Tariq Abdul Salam, Minister-Counselor and Director of the Arab League’s Military Administration, during the opening of the 68th session of the Committee for Harmonization of Military Terminology and Concepts, chaired by Major General Fathi Al-Marzouki, head of the Libyan delegation, and lasting five days.

Abdul Salam said that harmonizing military operational methods and procedures goes beyond the practical aspect, encompassing the identification of challenges and threats facing Arab armed forces and drawing lessons from past decades to develop joint exercises and formulate compatible combat doctrines. He clarified that committees concerned with harmonizing military terminology and concepts play a vital role in supporting this direction, thereby enhancing the capacity of Arab armed forces to conduct joint operations and address security challenges.

He stressed that harmonizing command and control procedures, synchronizing logistical operations, and integrating communication systems constitute fundamental pillars for raising combat efficiency and enhancing response speed to any threat facing the security and stability of Arab states. He called for continued coordination and exchange of expertise among Arab military delegations to contribute to the development of joint operational mechanisms and strengthen military readiness.

He also expressed his appreciation for the participating Arab military delegations, noting that their presence reflects a commitment to supporting joint Arab efforts and enhancing cooperation in military and security fields. The Kuwaiti delegation to the session was represented by the Kuwaiti Military Attaché in Cairo, Brigadier General Dhafer Al-Hajeri. (End) M.M. / N.S.A.
