Erbil, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- Erbil Governor Omid Khoshnaw announced on Saturday that a young man and a five-year-old child died as a result of floods caused by heavy rains in the province. In a statement, Khoshnaw said the two fatalities occurred east of Erbil, and announced the suspension of official working hours tomorrow, Sunday, in all government and private educational institutions, from kindergartens to universities, due to heavy rains that have submerged a large number of homes in the province. He added that the heavy rains have caused damage to the infrastructure of several neighborhoods and areas in Erbil and led to water entering a large number of homes, emphasizing that all government teams are on standby to serve citizens. He clarified that although the rainfall has stopped, it has been decided, in coordination with relevant authorities, to suspend official working hours in all government and private educational institutions tomorrow, Sunday, to ensure the safety of citizens and allow specialized teams to carry out their duties.
