Beirut -- Israeli occupation forces opened fire on Friday at Lebanese residents harvesting olives in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that a patrol from the occupation army advanced from the town of Kafr Kila toward the outskirts of Deir Mimas and fired in the vicinity of several residents while they were working in the olive harvest, forcing them to leave the area. The agency added that the patrol positioned itself at the town’s outskirts, blocking entry and exit, and detained one of its residents, taking him to an unknown location. It is worth noting that a large portion of southern Lebanon’s residents own land rich in olive trees and are active in the harvest during this season to extract oil and secure their olive supplies. However, Israeli occupation forces have repeatedly harassed them in recent weeks. Meanwhile, the occupation army continued its attacks in the south on Friday, launching intermittent artillery shelling targeting the outskirts of Mifdoun, in addition to carrying out demolition operations in the towns of Al-Tayyari and Al-Qantara. The Israeli occupation army has been stationed in dozens of southern villages and towns since the resumption of the war last March, and it continues daily attacks in the south, including systematic house demolitions and land leveling.
