Chinese President: Beijing is a Partner to Europe in Facing Challenges, Not a Source of Problems

Beijing -- Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday that his country “is not the source of the problems facing Europe, but a partner that can contribute to finding solutions,” emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two sides and resolving economic and trade differences through dialogue. Xinhua News Agency reported that these remarks were made during Xi’s talks with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stöger in Beijing. Xi added that “China and Europe are called upon to support free trade and multilateralism and to confront protectionist tendencies, thereby contributing to shared development.”

On the other hand, the Chinese president expressed his country’s desire to enhance cooperation with Austria in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and new energy. For his part, Stöger affirmed Austria’s commitment to strengthening ties with China and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and innovation, as well as supporting the resolution of trade disputes between China and Europe through dialogue.

The visit, which continues until tomorrow Saturday, coincides with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria. (End) S L Q / A M S
