China opens investigation into market dumping of chemical product by EU and Japan

Beijing -- China announced on Friday the opening of a special anti-dumping investigation into imports of the chemical ethylidene norbornene from the European Union and Japan. Xinhua News Agency reported that the Chinese Ministry of Commerce issued a statement opening the investigation, effective today, following a request from the domestic industry regarding imports of ethylidene norbornene from the EU and Japan. The statement clarified that the investigation, which is expected to conclude by November 6, 2027, may be extended by an additional six months under exceptional circumstances, aims to determine the extent of injury caused to the domestic industry by the material originating from the EU and Japan. It added that the dumping investigation period in this case covers the period from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, while the injury investigation period covers the period from January 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026. Ethylidene norbornene is used in the production of certain plastics, rubbers, and resins, and is also used in the manufacture of some pharmaceutical ingredients.
