Brussels, November 5 (KUNA) -- European Council President Antonio Costa held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday regarding preparations for the anticipated trilateral meeting between Ukrainian, Russian, and American delegations in Abu Dhabi, as well as Europe’s participation in negotiations concerning security guarantees for Ukraine and its economic recovery.
Costa stated on the X platform following his meeting with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the Iberian-American Summit in Madrid that the European Union will continue to support Ukraine throughout the war, in negotiations aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace, during the reconstruction phase, and along its European path toward EU membership.
For his part, Zelenskyy informed Costa of the details of his talks with the American side held on Wednesday and discussed preparations for the upcoming trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi and the priorities to be addressed there.
The Ukrainian president emphasized that his country has called for European participation at the negotiating table, stressing that “issues concerning security guarantees and Ukraine’s economic recovery cannot be discussed without the presence of European representatives.” (End) A.R.N. / M.A.A.
