Cairo, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held talks today with a Bahraini delegation on ways to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across various fields, reviewing a number of projects agreed upon by both sides.

The Egyptian Cabinet said in a statement that the meeting took place between Prime Minister Madbouli and the Bahraini delegation participating in the sessions of the Egyptian-Bahraini Joint Governmental Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation, held in Cairo.

The statement added that Madbouli expressed his aspiration to continue enhancing relations between Cairo and Manama and to leverage the outcomes of the joint committee’s work to advance cooperation and realize shared interests, particularly given the delicate phase the region is currently undergoing.

Madbouli pointed to a phone call he received two days ago from Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, which focused on coordination and consultation regarding preparations for the joint committee’s session, emphasizing the importance of translating the committee’s results into decisions that contribute to expanding cooperation frameworks between the two countries.

He stressed the importance of establishing a clear plan to implement announced investments and projects, ensuring follow-up on progress achieved and effective execution of the joint committee’s outcomes.

For his part, Bahraini Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the well-prepared arrangements for the committee’s meetings, reaffirming his country’s eagerness to implement and activate the committee’s outcomes as soon as possible.

He highlighted opportunities to develop cooperation between the Bahraini and Egyptian sovereign wealth funds, moving toward actual investment, as well as cooperation in port management and operation, ship maintenance, and the establishment of a digital postal platform through collaboration between Egypt’s National Postal Authority and Bahrain Post.

He affirmed his country’s aspiration to double the volume of trade between the two nations and intensify efforts to encourage the private sector to invest and establish joint projects, while enhancing economic and trade cooperation areas.

For his part, Egyptian Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchak confirmed full coordination between both sides to finalize agreed-upon items, noting the importance of following up on the committee’s results and translating them into swift and effective decisions, while providing necessary support to enhance trade and investment exchanges.

On his part, Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid outlined several investment opportunities in state-owned companies announced by the government for privatization or partnership, noting the Bahraini side’s welcome of these opportunities.

The Bahraini delegation, in addition to Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa, included Minister of Cabinet Affairs Hamad Al-Malki, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Amina Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdullah Fakro, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain Khalid Humaidan, President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nabil Qano, and Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Holding Group Sheikh Abdullah Al Khalifa.
