Aden, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council said on Thursday that the armed forces, as part of the “Fajr al-Yemen” (Yemen Dawn) operation, had carried out 40,761 military targeting operations against Houthi militias across various fronts since October 5 last year. These operations resulted in neutralizing approximately 20,000 of the militias’ leaders and members, and destroying or damaging more than 5,000 vehicles.
In a statement marking the one-month anniversary of the launch of the operation, the Council said this tally reflects the scale of the combat effort, the organized attrition, and the strikes inflicted on the militias, as well as their military capabilities. It emphasized that “Fajr al-Yemen” would continue until its objectives are achieved: ending the coup, restoring state institutions, and extending state sovereignty over the country’s entire territory.
At the same time, the Council praised the resilience of the people of Ta’iz Governorate in the face of the siege, shelling, and Houthi attempts to breach their defenses, noting that Ta’iz would remain a testament to Yemenis’ commitment to the republican system and their right to reclaim their state. It affirmed that Yemenis’ rights to their land and state would not change, regardless of shifts in frontline positions, and expressed its appreciation and greetings to the armed forces in all their formations, security agencies, popular resistance, and those holding the lines across various fronts.
The Council renewed its call on Yemenis in areas forcibly controlled by the Houthi militias to uphold the republican system, defend their right to equal citizenship, protect their children from conscription and exploitation, and reject the use of homes, neighborhoods, and civilian institutions as weapons storage sites, combat positions, or as human shields.
It pledged to the Yemeni people to continue the “Fajr al-Yemen” operation until the capital, Sanaa, is liberated, state authority is restored across the entire national territory, and the people’s will and sovereignty are reestablished, securing for their children a future free from militia rule.
The Council commended the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, its humanitarian institutions, and its development programs in supporting the Yemeni people, bolstering their resilience, and strengthening state institutions. It highlighted that Saudi support has contributed to ensuring the payment of civil servants’ salaries, maintaining essential services, alleviating humanitarian suffering, and implementing humanitarian and development projects and initiatives.
It stressed that the “Fajr al-Yemen” operation is not limited to military actions; it also includes strengthening the state’s presence alongside its citizens through the regular payment of salaries, continuity of services, relief for disaster victims, care for displaced persons, protection of rights, and mobilization of resources for these priorities, while enhancing the role of local authorities in cities and areas affected by Houthi militias.
