Moscow -- The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that its armed forces carried out drone strikes targeting energy facilities, logistics centers, and a cargo ship in the Black Sea used by the Ukrainian armed forces. In a statement, the ministry said the strikes conducted by Russian forces during the night targeted a logistics center belonging to Nova Poshta, Ukraine’s postal service, in the town of Novyi Korotych in the Kharkiv region, and a 330-kilovolt substation in the Dnipropetrovsk region. It added that Russian forces also struck a cargo ship loaded with military equipment in the Black Sea, 52 kilometers southwest of Odesa, clarifying that the operations were aimed at facilities and infrastructure used by the Ukrainian armed forces. In a related development, the ministry stated that Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 496 Ukrainian drones over several Russian regions. The ministry emphasized that its strikes, as it described them, target infrastructure used to support the Ukrainian armed forces, including energy and transport facilities, arms depots, and facilities for repairing and manufacturing military equipment, as well as troop assembly points. These developments come amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, which began on February 24, 2022, and continues with mutual attacks using drones and targeting facilities and infrastructure.
