Kuwait City, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sharida Al-Muwasharji, affirmed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its steadfast support for Riyadh, and its backing of all measures undertaken to safeguard Saudi sovereignty, security, and stability. This was stated in Kuwait’s address delivered by Minister Al-Muwasharji during his participation in the 20th meeting of the chairs of the Consultative, Parliamentary, National, and Assemblies of Member States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held today, Wednesday, via video conference at the invitation of the Chairman of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdullah Al al-Sheikh.

The Office of the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs said in a statement that Minister Al-Muwasharji reiterated Kuwait’s firm position condemning the attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of Kuwait’s security and that of the GCC member states. He called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in confronting these attacks and holding those responsible accountable.

He stressed the importance of strengthening Gulf solidarity, intensifying coordination and consultation among GCC member states, and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, in order to preserve the region’s security and stability and prevent further escalation. He also affirmed the necessity of safeguarding the security and freedom of maritime navigation, as well as the safety of international waterways, and rejecting any attack or threat targeting commercial vessels or endangering the safety of sea routes, given their strategic importance in ensuring the smooth flow of international trade, energy supplies, and global supply chains.

Minister Al-Muwasharji reiterated Kuwait’s firm stance supporting the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people and condemning the attacks by Israeli occupation authorities, stressing the need for an immediate halt to these attacks, the protection of civilians, and efforts toward achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace that guarantees the Palestinian people their right to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He highlighted the importance of unifying Gulf perspectives and coordinating GCC positions on priority issues in international forums and organizations, thereby enhancing the presence of GCC member states, supporting their interests, and contributing to the consolidation of international peace and security.

In conclusion, Minister Al-Muwasharji expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the meeting and to the GCC Secretariat General for its continuous efforts in supporting joint Gulf cooperation. (End) F.N./A.M.H.
