Paris, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- France strongly condemned on Tuesday the Russian strikes targeting Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, which hit a school being used as an aid distribution center and killed more than 30 civilians. In a statement, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said France “strongly condemns the extensive Russian attacks launched overnight, using an unprecedented number of 110 missiles fired at Ukraine, primarily targeting energy infrastructure.” The statement added that a hospital in Kharkiv was shelled, resulting in more than 70 injuries and the evacuation of 200 patients. It stressed the need to ensure safe and unhindered access of humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian population. France, deeply concerned by the violence of these attacks, expressed its steadfast solidarity with Ukraine, offering its condolences to the victims’ families and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. The statement further affirmed France’s full determination to work with its partners to resolve the conflict, support Ukraine in the long term, and increase pressure on Russia to end its aggressive war. Ukrainian rescue teams had announced on Monday that 24 people were killed in a Russian strike on an aid distribution center in the town of Komyshevakha in southern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, including two rescue workers. The center was located inside a school. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said an initial strike hit the building, followed by a second attack on the area where people had taken shelter, noting that residents who remained in the town were making weekly trips to receive aid.
