Kuwait City, November 3 (KUNA) -- The National Conference, under the slogan “From Kuwait We Begin, and to Kuwait We Conclude,” announced the launch of its 26th edition on November 11, honoring 13 national figures who have given their utmost for the elevation and progress of Kuwait.

Yousef Al-Yassin, head of the conference’s Supreme Supervisory Committee, said at a press conference on Tuesday that the conference’s message, objectives, goals, and value are derived from the customs and traditions of Kuwait’s cohesive, united, and closely knit society. He emphasized that since its inception in its first edition, the National Conference has upheld national, human, and social values, particularly those that strengthen the bonds among Kuwaitis and unite them rather than divide them.

Al-Yassin added that the slogan of the current edition is drawn from a statement by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and safeguard him: “The loyal people of Kuwait are you alone; your firm unity and high spirit are the strongest weapons to preserve our beloved homeland. National unity is a shield that protects Kuwait and its citizens, and a fortress for confronting hardships and challenges.”

He stressed the importance of moderation and avoiding extremism in dealing with matters, in accordance with the teachings of our moderate and revered Islamic faith and in adherence to our authentic and venerable Kuwaiti traditions, which are rooted in the legacy of our fathers and forefathers.

He noted that the current edition will honor Fawzi Al-Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Najib Al-Mulla, Saud Al-Rabiah, Ahmed Al-Arabid, Hamza Hussein, Zaid Al-Zaid, Abdulaziz Al-Khalifa, Ali Al-Mu’min, Emad Al-Atiqi, Saree Al-Hajeri, Yousef Al-Munifi, and Abdulmohsen Al-Othman, may God have mercy on them all.

Al-Yassin clarified that a documentary film highlighting the virtues and achievements of the honored figures will be screened during the conference, along with a patriotic musical opera and keynote speeches by lawyer Kauthar Al-Jouman on “Security Is the Citizen’s Responsibility” and by Dr. Abdullah Al-Sharika, director of the Center for Promoting Moderation.

He added that members of the Supreme Supervisory Committee had previously organized 25 national conferences under the slogan “From Kuwait We Begin… and to Kuwait We Conclude,” during which approximately 283 Kuwaiti figures from various segments of Kuwaiti society were honored. (End) F.R. / H.A.
