Tunis, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- The Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO) launched today, Monday, the “Innovative Teacher 2027” competition, aiming to develop education in the Arab world by leveraging technology and innovation in the teaching process.
In a statement, the organization said the competition aligns with the rapid global transformations in education, which necessitate developing teachers’ capacities and empowering them to effectively use digital tools and modern technologies. It added that the competition will help Arab teachers transition from traditional uses of technology to innovative, student-centered pedagogical practices that foster critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and the skills needed to meet future demands.
The competition is part of a regional initiative under the “Skills for Innovation” project, which provides a supportive framework for developing teachers’ digital and professional competencies and enhancing their ability to integrate technology purposefully and innovatively into the design of educational activities and lessons.
The initiative was described as a practical extension of this trend, offering teachers the opportunity to apply acquired knowledge and skills to prepare innovative lessons or educational activities that harness technology to enhance student engagement, deepen understanding, and improve learning outcomes in classrooms.
The competition targets teachers in public and private educational institutions across Arab countries, allowing them to participate free of charge and without requiring prior technical expertise, to develop a lesson plan or innovative educational activity that meaningfully integrates technology and responds to learners’ needs and educational objectives.
The competition will proceed through national and regional stages, culminating in a final phase where winning projects are expected to be presented at an event to be held in the Saudi capital in April next year.
The competition is organized by ALECSO in collaboration with Intel Corporation, Classera for Smart Learning, and the Millennium Institute for Sustainable Education. (End) S.B.M / S.A.M
