Istanbul, Nov 2 (KUNA) – Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said on Monday that the volume of trade between Turkey and the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reached $119.1 billion in 2025. He made the remarks during a discussion session held on the sidelines of the 42nd ministerial meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the OIC, chaired by Turkish Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz.
Bolat emphasized that Turkey attaches special importance to developing trade with OIC member states and is intensifying support for exports and business activities targeting 21 priority countries within its strategy to boost exports to OIC nations. He stressed the need to develop financing opportunities in parallel with facilitating market access and reducing trade barriers, enabling trade among member states to reach its full potential.
He noted that the Preferential Trade Arrangement among OIC member states, which entered into force on July 1, 2022, represents an important tool for enhancing trade integration, and affirmed that Turkey is working to expand its scope and activate its implementation.
Bolat called for prioritizing the facilitation of access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, enhancing cooperation in export credit guarantees, insurance, and reinsurance, and developing mechanisms for knowledge exchange and co-financing. (End) T.A.
