Cairo, Feb 2 (KUNA) – The Arab League condemned on Monday the repeated attacks by the Rapid Support Forces on energy centers and infrastructure in several Sudanese states, affirming that the deliberate targeting of civilian facilities constitutes a war crime that warrants accountability and prosecution. In a statement, the League denounced the attacks, which employed aircraft against vital installations in the states of Khartoum, Gezira, Sennar, Gedaref, River Nile, and Red Sea, causing several of them to go out of service and cutting off electricity in wide areas, thereby exacerbating the suffering of civilian populations. It referred to Council Resolution No. 9246, issued on May 11, 2026, which strongly condemned attacks targeting infrastructure and civilian facilities in Sudan and the resulting loss of life and damage to public and private property. The League warned that targeting power stations and civilian facilities constitutes a blatant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, depriving civilians of essential services, including electricity, water, healthcare, and education, as well as disrupting productive activities and multiplying the humanitarian suffering of the Sudanese people. It reaffirmed its firm rejection of all attacks targeting civilians and civilian and service facilities, reiterating its steadfast position supporting Sudan and preserving its unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, national institutions, and infrastructure.
