Muscat -- Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi said on Monday that Oman’s relations with China are not limited to the economic sphere but also encompass consultation and exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues. In a statement broadcast by the Oman News Agency on the occasion of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s state visit to China, Al Busaidi reaffirmed the Sultanate’s commitment to enhancing dialogue and political solutions, respecting international law, and fostering multilateral cooperation. He noted that Omani leadership regards all its international partnerships as “tools to support development and stability, in line with its policy of balance, constructive neutrality, and mutual trust with all parties.” In this context, he pointed to shared Omani-Chinese interests and a common political will to build on achievements through practical projects and concrete initiatives for cooperation between institutions, the private sector, and universities in both countries. He emphasized that China is an important economic and trade partner for the Sultanate of Oman, and that joint efforts are directed toward strengthening investment, industrial, and technological partnerships to generate added value for the national economy, particularly in the fields of energy, advanced industries, logistics, knowledge transfer, and capacity building. Regarding the current visit by Sultan Haitham, he described it as “an important step in the history of relations between the two countries, as it is the first visit by an Omani sultan to China, and will elevate bilateral relations to an advanced stage of cooperation based on shared interests and mutual respect.” He added that the visit “reflects the openness of Omani foreign policy in building diverse and balanced relations with various international partners,” noting that Omani-Chinese relations are rooted in a long history of civilizational communication and mutual understanding.
