Cairo – The Arab League today condemned the systematic and repeated violations and repressive measures carried out by Israeli occupation authorities against prisoners from Gaza held in the Ramla detention facility, which have resulted in burns and physical injuries among some of them. In a statement, the League affirmed that these practices constitute violations of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and the Convention against Torture, calling for an immediate halt to such acts and for the treatment of prisoners in accordance with international standards. It demanded that the International Committee of the Red Cross and independent monitoring bodies be allowed unrestricted access to the detention facility, that the injured receive necessary medical care, and that an independent international investigation be launched into the violations, with those responsible held accountable and sick and injured prisoners released. The League reaffirmed its solidarity with Palestinian prisoners and their families, urging the international community to fulfill its responsibilities to protect them, stop the violations, and end the culture of impunity.
