Egyptian President and Iraqi Counterpart Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues in Phone Call

Cairo -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held talks on Sunday with his Iraqi counterpart, Nizar al-Amidi, on bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as developments in regional issues. The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, conveyed in a statement that President al-Sisi reaffirmed during the phone call, which he received from the Iraqi president, Egypt’s steadfast support for Iraq’s security and stability, and its commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries. He noted that the Iraqi president, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the progress witnessed in relations between the two countries, emphasizing Iraq’s keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation with Egypt. The statement added that the two presidents discussed developments in regional issues, with al-Sisi reiterating Egypt’s continued efforts aimed at restoring stability in the Middle East region, while al-Amidi commended Egypt’s supportive stance toward Iraq’s security and stability, expressing his appreciation for the role Egypt plays in establishing peace in the region.
