Kuwait City, 1 Nov (KUNA) -- Iqimia Petrochemicals announced that its US subsidiary, ME Global, has obtained a carbon footprint certificate from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) system, becoming the first ethylene glycol producer in the United States to receive this certification.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday, Iqimia Petrochemicals said the certification covers producers of monoethylene glycol and diethylene glycol manufactured by ME Global at its industrial facilities in Oyster Creek, Texas. The company emphasized that obtaining this certificate represents a significant step toward achieving Iqimia’s goals in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, translating its sustainability priorities into concrete actions, and supporting customers with reliable data on product-level carbon footprints.

The certification provides ME Global’s customers with independently verified data on the carbon footprint of each product.

Quoting the statement, Iqimia CEO Nasser Al-Dosari said the group’s ESG strategy focuses on translating sustainability priorities into tangible steps that support its business and customers. Al-Dosari affirmed that obtaining the ISCC carbon footprint certificate reflects this approach by providing independent and reliable carbon footprint data, enabling customers to confidently use it in their reports and decisions. He noted that obtaining the ISCC certificate marks an important milestone in ME Global’s journey, particularly as it is the first ethylene glycol producer in the US to receive this certification.

He added that as disclosure requirements for carbon emissions evolve in major global markets, the availability of reliable data on the emissions of each product has become increasingly important in purchasing decisions and supply chains. He stressed that independent third-party verification is crucial for enhancing trust in environmental information by ensuring it undergoes rigorous and transparent review.

For her part, Julia Cockerham, Director of the Carbon Footprint Verification Program at SCS Global Services, said both ME Global and Iqimia demonstrate their commitment by investing in independently verified, reliable carbon footprint data, which supports informed decision-making across the value chain and strengthens efforts toward a more sustainable future.
