Moscow, October 31 (KUNA) -- The Russian Foreign Ministry on Saturday underscored the importance of strengthening a multipolar global order and reforming the international economic governance system. In a press release, the ministry stated that this was during the Group of Twenty (G20) foreign ministers’ meeting held in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The ministry said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who headed his country’s delegation to the U.S.-chaired meeting, outlined Moscow’s position on current international challenges amid the interconnection between economic crises and geopolitical instability. It added that discussions covered a number of international issues, particularly energy and food security, stability of supply chains, and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation, with Lavrov stressing the need to combat unfair competition. The ministry further noted that the Russian delegation presented Moscow’s assessment of what it described as measures undermining international trade, including the interception of commercial vessels, the imposition of sanctions, and the seizure of assets. It reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to its role as a reliable trading partner and a key supplier of energy resources, food products, and fertilizers to needy countries, highlighting Russia’s potential in transport and logistics, including the expansion of the Northern Sea Route. It also pointed to the importance of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s initiative to establish a major Eurasian partnership and efforts aimed at building a common security architecture on the Eurasian continent.
