Manama, Oct 31 (KUNA) -- Hanan Al-Eidan, Deputy Director of the Fatwa and Legislation Department, received the Excellence Award for Technical Members of Legislation Departments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for 2026, representing the State of Kuwait, on the sidelines of the 31st meeting of the Standing Committee of Officials of the GCC Countries’ Legislation Departments, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Qutaiba Al-Dabous, a lawyer and member of the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meeting, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday that this honor is the first awarded by the GCC Secretariat-General to technical members of the GCC countries’ legislation departments, in recognition of their efforts and contributions to legislative work.

Al-Dabous added that the award recognizes the legal and legislative expertise of Gulf professionals, highlights the efforts of those working in this field, and encourages them to continue their dedication, excellence, and advancement of legislative work, thereby enhancing the exchange of expertise and experiences among the GCC countries’ legislation departments.

The award ceremony took place on the sidelines of the meeting held in Manama last Thursday, under Bahrain’s chairmanship of the Standing Committee for the current year.

The Kuwaiti Fatwa and Legislation Department participated in the meeting with a delegation headed by Jauhar Al-Maqroon, Head of the Legislation Sector and Deputy Director of the Department, which included several members of the Legislation Sector.

The meeting addressed several agenda items of the Standing Committee, focusing on strengthening cooperation and joint coordination, and exchanging expertise among the GCC countries’ legislation departments, contributing to the development and advancement of the Gulf legislative framework.
