Kuwait City, Oct 31 (KUNA) – The Ministry of Interior announced that the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, represented by the Jahra Criminal Investigations Department, in cooperation with the Public Security Sector, arrested a suspect of Asian nationality in the murder of a security guard at a plot under construction in the Al-Mutlaa area, in less than 24 hours from the receipt of the report.
In a press statement on Saturday, the ministry said security agencies received a report yesterday morning stating that the body of a security guard was found on the roof of the plot. Competent authorities immediately proceeded to the site to examine the scene and collect evidence.
The ministry clarified that investigations led to suspicion falling on a former guard for the plot, who had been dismissed the day before the incident was discovered. It emerged that he had surrendered himself to the East Police Station following an arrest warrant related to the expiration of his residency visa, in an attempt to be deported from the country before his connection to the case was uncovered.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the incident following a dispute with the victim, who had replaced him at work. He admitted to assaulting the victim with a piece of wood and a knife. The ministry added that the necessary procedures are underway to refer the suspect to the competent authorities.
