Beijing, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- China expressed its deep displeasure and strong opposition on Friday to U.S. restrictive measures targeting Chinese laboratories that test electronic devices, stressing that such actions disrupt the stability of global industrial and supply chains.
In a statement cited by China Central Television (CCTV), China’s Ministry of Commerce said that the Federal Communications Commission’s ban, announced on Thursday, on accrediting testing laboratories and communications certification bodies, and on recognizing laboratories in China as being located in a “non-reciprocal economy,” effective December 1, 2028, inflicts serious harm to Chinese interests.
The statement added that, according to the ministry, the U.S. side ignored repeated Chinese protests and took restrictive measures against China, which contradicts the understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries and severely undermines the stability of economic and trade relations between them.
It noted that Washington has intervened in market choices through administrative means to strongly push what it termed “reshoring testing to the United States,” regardless of the laws of economic development and the division of labor within global industrial cooperation. This, the statement said, raises testing costs and prolongs product delivery and update cycles, ultimately harming the interests of U.S. consumers and companies.
The statement pointed out that the Chinese side has repeatedly proposed negotiating a “bilateral mutual recognition agreement,” but the United States has taken a highly negative stance toward the proposal.
It affirmed that China will keep the door open for consultations to resolve issues, expressing hope that the U.S. side will properly address the calls of the domestic sector, respect market laws, and immediately revoke the relevant measures. (End) S.L.Q./F.A.S.
