Brussels, October 29 (KUNA) -- The European Union condemned on Thursday the Russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine, reaffirming its commitment to continue supporting Kyiv and intensifying pressure on Moscow until a “just and lasting peace” is achieved.
European Council President António Costa, in a post on the X platform, stated that the series of Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians constitutes “further cruel and destructive acts,” expressing his condolences to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people following a Russian drone strike on a railway station in Dnipro, as well as attacks on residential neighborhoods in Chernihiv and Kramatorsk.
Costa emphasized that the European Union would continue to increase pressure on Russia and support Ukraine until a “just and lasting peace” is realized, calling on all international partners to take similar steps.
For her part, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, in a similar post, said the Russian attack on the Dnipro railway station represented another assault on Ukrainian civilians, adding that it “clearly demonstrates that Moscow is not interested in peace.”
Kallas noted that she would urge partners at the upcoming EU-Canada summit and the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in Atlanta, United States, to strengthen their support for Ukraine and advance accountability efforts, including through the Special Tribunal and the Claims Commission.
