Manama, October 28 (KUNA) – Bahraini Minister of Information Dr. Ramzan Al-Naemi affirmed today that the shared destiny and complementary interests uniting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries make Gulf solidarity a steadfast approach and a strategic choice for safeguarding their security and stability and protecting their achievements. This statement came during a speech delivered by Al-Naemi while chairing the 29th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Information, attended by State Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Acting Minister of Information and Culture Omar Al-Omar.

Al-Naemi expressed Bahrain’s pride in hosting the meeting, which reflects the depth of the entrenched fraternal ties among GCC member states and underscores their shared commitment to further enhancing Gulf media cooperation and integration. He praised the care and attention afforded by the GCC leaders to the trajectory of joint Gulf efforts.

He noted that the challenges and developments witnessed in the region necessitate strengthening unity of ranks, coordinating positions, and harmonizing joint efforts. Al-Naemi pointed out that the region’s developments and challenges have highlighted the strategic importance of Gulf media as a fundamental pillar in supporting common Gulf positions and defending the Council’s interests. He commended Gulf media institutions for demonstrating professional and national responsibility in confronting the reprehensible Iranian aggression that targeted the sovereignty, security, civilian assets, and vital infrastructure of GCC states.

He emphasized the importance of building on these efforts to enhance joint media readiness and consolidate a balanced, credible media discourse that reflects facts, raises public awareness, and counters attempts at misinformation and sowing discord among GCC peoples.

Minister Al-Naemi stressed that the future of Gulf media work requires enhancing joint cooperation to reach more advanced and comprehensive horizons by developing an integrated Gulf media system capable of keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the global media landscape. He added that this includes artificial intelligence technologies and digital platforms, strengthening partnerships among media institutions, exchanging expertise and successful experiences, and investing in qualifying national cadres and young talents to enhance the quality and competitiveness of Gulf media content and expand its capacity to influence and reach diverse audience segments.

He also underscored the importance of strengthening the Gulf media presence on the international stage by developing an objective media discourse that addresses the world in its various languages, reflects the civilizational image of GCC states, and highlights their developmental achievements, positions, and contributions to supporting security, peace, and stability. He expressed his hope that the meeting’s outcomes would yield practical steps to enhance Gulf media cooperation and integration, serving common interests and realizing the aspirations of GCC states and their peoples for further progress and prosperity.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed a number of media topics and issues on the agenda, along with a set of proposed initiatives and projects to enhance media cooperation and integration among GCC states, contributing to the development of the Gulf media work system and strengthening coordination among its institutions.
