Beirut -- Lebanese Foreign Minister and Expatriates Affairs Minister Youssef Raji stressed on Tuesday the importance of maintaining an international presence along Lebanon’s southern border. The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Minister Raji discussed with Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Helen McEntee, whom he received at the ministry, the post-phase following the end of the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The statement noted that the two ministers expressed “concern over the security vacuum that will result from UNIFIL’s departure from the south” and agreed on the necessity of maintaining an international presence along the border.
