Aden, October 26 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni Parliament today Monday commended the Egyptian Parliament’s approval of a resolution empowering President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to take the necessary measures, in coordination with Saudi Arabia, to bolster the Kingdom’s defenses. In a statement, the Yemeni Parliament said the Egyptian stance reflects the deep historical ties between the two brotherly countries and their shared responsibility toward Arab nation issues, and it praised the roles of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in strengthening bilateral relations and strategic cooperation. It also commended the roles of the National Defense Council and the Egyptian Parliament in fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities regarding the decision, considering Arab state security as an integrated system in which the security of any state is inseparable from the stability of its regional environment. It underscored the importance of Arab solidarity and the integration of efforts to protect Arab national security and confront common challenges, noting that Egypt constitutes a fundamental pillar in the Arab security equation, and that the security of Egypt, the Gulf Arab states, and the Red Sea are interlinked in light of shared interests related to sovereignty, stability, freedom of navigation, and international trade. It highlighted the strategic importance of the Red Sea and the link between the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Suez Canal as a shared interest that transcends the boundaries of riparian states to encompass Arab and global economic interests. The Egyptian Parliament had approved, during its session held today Monday and by a two-thirds majority of its members, a resolution empowering President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to take the necessary measures to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
