London -- The coalition to prevent atrocities and achieve justice in Sudan affirmed on Monday its commitment to prosecuting those responsible for atrocities committed there, coinciding with the first anniversary of the violence that struck the Sudanese city of El Fasher on October 26, 2025. In a joint statement relayed by the British Foreign Office, the coalition, comprising the United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Sierra Leone, and the European Union, condemned the mass killings, ethnic-based executions, torture, displacement, and widespread violence perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces during the siege of El Fasher in northern Darfur. The coalition warned of the risk of further atrocities, citing ongoing attacks on civilians, destruction of civilian infrastructure, and restrictions on humanitarian aid. It praised the efforts of Sudanese civil society organizations in documenting violence and supporting victims, calling for intensified efforts to deliver humanitarian aid without restrictions and to ensure victims receive assistance. The coalition urged the international community to stop fueling the conflict by supplying the parties with more arms and funding that prolong the war in Sudan, and called for compliance with UN sanctions, including the arms embargo on Darfur. In a related development, the coalition welcomed the renewal of the mandate of the International Independent Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan, expressing its support for cooperation between the international mission and the African Union’s investigative mission, as well as with the International Criminal Court’s investigations concerning the Darfur region.
