Kuwait City, October 24 (KUNA) – The second scientific conference on proliferative hematologic malignancies and myelodysplastic syndromes kicked off today, Saturday, organized by the Kuwait Leukemia and Lymphoma Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Hospital, with the participation of a distinguished group of experts, researchers, and specialists from within and outside Kuwait.

In a press release, the Ministry of Health stated that the conference aims to keep pace with the rapid developments in hematology and leukemia sciences, and to enhance the integration between scientific research and clinical practice, thereby positively impacting the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.

The release quoted Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Al-Mondher Al-Husaini, speaking on behalf of the conference’s patron, Minister of Health, emphasizing the importance of specialized scientific conferences in fostering the exchange of expertise and discussing evidence-based medical practices, leading to recommendations that contribute to the development of healthcare services and the elevation of the quality of care provided to patients.

Dr. Al-Husaini clarified that modern medical practices are undergoing a shift toward precision medicine and targeted therapies, by selecting the most appropriate treatment for each patient based on the genetic and molecular characteristics of the disease. This approach enhances treatment efficacy, minimizes side effects, and improves health outcomes.

He added that this transformation also involves adopting the concept of comprehensive patient care, whereby treatment success indicators are not limited to laboratory results but also include reducing complications, alleviating symptoms, and improving quality of life. He affirmed the Ministry of Health’s support for these two trends and its efforts to strengthen their implementation within Kuwait’s healthcare system. (End) M.N.M. / M.M.J.
