Aden, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- The official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Colonel Majid Al-Nazili, announced on Friday the execution of 1,392 targeting operations during the past 24 hours as part of the “Fajr al-Yemen” (Yemen Dawn) operation, coinciding with raids, ground attacks, and aerial and artillery strikes along the combat fronts.

Al-Nazili stated in a press release that initial field assessments indicated the neutralization of approximately 620 Houthi militia fighters, including field commanders, and the destruction or damage of around 190 vehicles, armored units, personnel transport means, and pieces of heavy and medium weaponry.

He said the operations targeted Houthi militia concentrations, reinforcements, movements of its commanders, positions, fortifications, trenches, vehicles, armored units, and personnel transport means, as well as emplacements for heavy and medium weapons.

He added that the strikes led to the disintegration of militia concentrations, confusion among its field command, disruption of its supply lines, and impairment of its maneuverability across various axes.

He noted that Armed Forces units carried out raids and counterattacks against militia positions and advanced on the (Al-Aqroud) front in Taiz Governorate, thwarting attempts by the militia to regroup its forces or recapture lost positions, while other fronts continued their operations targeting militia movements, reserves, and firing sources.

He emphasized the ongoing monitoring of militia movements and military capabilities and their targeting, stressing the continuation of operations in compliance with the rules of international humanitarian law and the taking of necessary precautions to protect civilians and civilian objects.

In a related development, Al-Nazili announced in a separate statement the destruction of a command and control center belonging to the Houthi militia and two tanks at the abandoned Sofitel Hotel east of Taiz city, which has been under a complete militia siege for three weeks.

He said the Houthi militia had used the hotel building as a fortified command and control center from which it launched attacks on unarmed civilians in Taiz city.

He added that the airstrikes were carried out in response to attacks on civilians and with the aim of protecting them. (End) S.N.S. / M.A.H.A.
