Tunis, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- The European Union delegation and the diplomatic missions of EU member states in Libya on Thursday condemned the use of force at the premises of the Court of Audit in Tripoli, which targeted pressuring the institution over disputed senior appointments. In a statement, the delegation called for an end to any armed presence or coercive measures affecting the Court’s operations, and for those involved to leave its premises without delay. It urged all concerned parties to resolve disputes over appointments in sovereign institutions exclusively through established legal and institutional procedures, in accordance with relevant Libyan legislation and the principles of the Libyan Political Agreement. The delegation reaffirmed its support for the rule of law and for Libya’s resilient, independent, and accountable sovereign institutions. It confirmed its continued commitment to Libya’s unity, stability, security, and prosperity, and to working toward this goal with all relevant institutions and partners. The Libyan Court of Audit announced on Wednesday the suspension of its activities until suitable and safe conditions are available to resume work, following the intrusion of a group of armed men into its headquarters in the capital, Tripoli.
