Doha, October 22 (KUNA) -- QatarEnergy signed two long-term agreements with the U.S. company Cheniere to purchase up to four million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually from Cheniere’s facilities in Sabine Pass, Louisiana, and Corpus Christi, Texas, on the U.S. Gulf Coast. QatarEnergy said in a statement on Thursday that, under the two purchase and sale agreements, LNG deliveries will be made on a FOB (free on board) basis, with deliveries expected to begin in 2031 and continue through 2054. The agreements were signed by Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Managing Director and CEO of QatarEnergy, Eng. Saad Al-Kaabi, and Cheniere’s Chairman and CEO, Jack Fusco. On this occasion, Minister Al-Kaabi affirmed that signing these two agreements marks an important milestone in QatarEnergy’s LNG strategy, noting that this long-term deal will contribute to developing and diversifying its global LNG portfolio and enhancing its ability to meet market demands. Al-Kaabi said that these additional volumes complement QatarEnergy’s current LNG supplies, diversifying its supply and trading portfolio and strengthening its capacity to meet customer needs worldwide. QatarEnergy emphasized that these two agreements reflect its continued confidence in the role of LNG within the global energy mix over the long term, and its commitment to further developing a diversified and competitive LNG portfolio.
