Riyadh, October 22 (KUNA) -- Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed on Thursday the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s support for the Iraqi government’s efforts to de-escalate tensions and its initiatives to continue working jointly with neighboring countries in a manner that contributes to enhancing security and stability in the region. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this position was conveyed during a phone call received by Prince Faisal bin Farhan from Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, which addressed the recent terrorist attacks that targeted areas in Saudi Arabia. The ministry added that Minister Hussein expressed the Iraqi government’s condemnation of these attacks and its rejection of any harm inflicted on civilians and civilian facilities, reaffirming Iraq’s firm stance against allowing its territory to be used as a launching point for any attacks or actions that threaten the security of Saudi Arabia and the countries of the region. The ministry noted that the two sides reviewed during the call the bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Iraq and ways to enhance cooperation between them in various fields, particularly in the security sector, to address current regional challenges.
