Riyadh, October 21 (KUNA) -- The General Secretariat of Saudi Arabia’s Council of Senior Scholars condemned on Wednesday the Houthi militia’s targeting of civilian facilities in Yemen, describing the acts as “terrorism by all standards.”
In a statement, the Secretariat clarified that “the Houthi militia’s targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure in brotherly Yemen, and the resulting destabilization of security, incitement of discord, and aggression against the innocent and sanctities, constitutes terrorism by all standards.” It added, “This reveals the extent to which these militias have embraced terrorism and audacity in violating the sanctities of God. They are no less dangerous than extremist groups such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda; indeed, they surpass them in spreading corruption on earth and in their aggression against Muslims.”
The Secretariat emphasized that the militia’s targeting of pilgrims heading to the Holy Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina constituted a greater sin and aggression. However, God Almighty thwarted their plot, turning it against them, thanks to the vigilance of Saudi air defense and the capability of the Saudi armed forces.
This statement follows the Houthi militia’s attack on Monday on the Ahmed Al-Sulaimani Training Center, firing three ballistic missiles at the site while new recruits were undergoing security training. The local authority in Shabwa initially reported that the attack killed more than 53 recruits and injured over 200 others. Later, it announced that the death toll had risen to 73, with search operations for the missing continuing. (End) K.N.Sh / S.A.M
