Riyadh, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- A senior official at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy announced on Wednesday that air defenses intercepted a drone attempting to target a facility at the Shaybah oil field, operated by Saudi Aramco in the Eastern Province. The incident sparked a fire in a contractor’s vehicle located outside the facility’s perimeter, but did not affect operational activities.
In a statement, the ministry said that relevant authorities responded to the incident and took necessary measures. The attack resulted in the deaths of two residents, one Filipino and one Nepali, and injuries to two other residents, one Pakistani and one Indian.
