Moscow, October 21 (KUNA) -- Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov said on Wednesday that the conflict in Ukraine is nearing its end, pointing to the possibility of holding a new round of negotiations on a Ukrainian settlement in Abu Dhabi as part of efforts to reach a resolution to the dispute. The Russian news agency RIA Novosti quoted Ushakov as saying that the Russian delegation participating in the anticipated trilateral meeting on the Ukrainian settlement would be at the expert level, noting the possibility of including Russian Presidential Assistant Vasily Medinsky in the delegation for the talks scheduled for next November.
In a related development, Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President’s Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, said in a similar statement that Russia and the United States are conducting an active dialogue on energy projects and the establishment of specialized artificial intelligence data centers. According to the agency, Dmitriev added that expanding economic cooperation between the two countries was among the topics discussed during his meeting with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, expressing his belief in a positive trend and a desire on the part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to cooperate with Moscow.
He pointed to broad prospects for implementing many joint projects, emphasizing that Russian-U.S. cooperation would continue gradually and effectively despite opposition from European parties. Dmitriev considered the suspension by U.S. authorities of the application of sanctions against Russia an important step, noting that the issue of humanitarian cooperation between the two countries was raised during the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Witkoff. He praised what he described as intensive coordination and interaction between First Lady Melania Trump and the Russian side on humanitarian issues, affirming Moscow’s appreciation for the efforts made in this regard.
On another note, the Kremlin announced in a statement carried by RIA Novosti that communications between Russia and the United States regarding the foreign assets of the Russian oil company Lukoil continue, indicating the possibility of extending the related license without difficulties. These remarks come as diplomatic efforts regarding the war in Ukraine continue, alongside discussions on prospects for resuming economic and humanitarian cooperation between Moscow and Washington.
