Cairo, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi affirmed on Wednesday that “the Egyptian military effort is for the defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s territory and does not constitute an attack on Yemen,” adding that “the objective is to defend the Kingdom’s territory and borders, as well as the territory of any other Arab state, if Egypt is asked to do so.”

Speaking during a session on “Homeland and Citizen Security” on the third day of the Egypt Forum 2026, President el-Sisi stressed that the Egyptian military effort does not extend beyond Egypt’s borders or those of any brotherly state whose security and stability Egypt is keen to safeguard. He further stated that Arab national security is indivisible, emphasizing that the stability of Gulf states is a matter of concern for Egypt from the perspective of national security.

President el-Sisi pointed to the necessity of restoring stability in all Arab countries, including Sudan, Libya, and Somalia, noting that Egypt’s support for Gulf states is an extension of shared Arab national security. He outlined that the constants of Egypt’s foreign policy since 2014 are based on principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of states, non-conspiracy, preservation of national statehood and its institutions, non-engagement with armed militias, cooperation for construction, development, and reconstruction, and positive engagement in balanced relations with all parties.

He affirmed that maintaining the strength of state institutions and public trust in them is fundamental to protecting them from overthrow plots, stressing the need to enhance communication between state institutions and citizens to convey facts and preserve internal cohesion.

President el-Sisi also emphasized the necessity of adhering to strategic balance and avoiding being swayed into taking steps based on public pressure, alongside the need to continue strengthening state capacities. He called for a firm and resilient public opinion in Egypt amid the multiple risks facing the country. (End) A.F.F. / M.A.A.
