Doha, October 21 (KUNA) -- Qatar and France today discussed ways to strengthen their bilateral relations and strategic partnership in political, diplomatic, and economic and investment fields, as well as in defense, security, education, health, culture, sports, and humanitarian and development cooperation.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this took place during the fourth annual strategic dialogue between the two countries, held in Doha and chaired by Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot.

The statement clarified that the dialogue sessions also reviewed progress made in cooperation areas since the third strategic dialogue held in June 2025. It added that the dialogue addressed developments in the region, foremost among them the Palestinian issue, developments in the Gaza Strip, and efforts aimed at achieving peace, as well as the situations in Lebanon, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa, developments related to Iran, and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications for regional security and freedom of maritime navigation.

It further noted that Qatar’s mediation efforts to settle conflicts through diplomatic means, de-escalate tensions, and enhance regional security and stability were also discussed, along with the importance of continuing coordination and consultation on regional and international issues of common interest.
