Tunis, October 21 (KUNA) -- The third conference of officials responsible for combating information technology crimes in Arab interior ministries kicked off today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in Tunis, with participation from representatives of member states, including the State of Kuwait.
During the opening ceremony, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers Mohamed Kouman stated that “combating the growing cyber and digital crimes requires intensifying efforts and coordination among relevant Arab authorities and maintaining constant vigilance,” emphasizing the importance of establishing a unified, model organizational structure for a specialized agency dedicated to combating information technology crimes in Arab countries.
He stressed the importance of leveraging artificial intelligence in combating financial fraud and keeping pace with criminal methods used in this field, thereby contributing to strengthening cyber awareness across the Arab world.
He noted that the conference will review observed electronic criminal cases among member states, share their experiences in tackling information technology crimes, and discuss several key topics related to cybercrime, alongside presenting the most significant electronic criminal cases identified by member states. This will enable participants to gain insight into the patterns of these crimes and take preventive measures.
Representing Kuwait at the conference are Colonel Hamad Al-Humoud, Assistant Director of the Cybercrime Combating Department; Major Abbar Bahbahani, from the General Directorate of International Relations; and Lieutenant Sultan Al-Anzi, from the Cybercrime Combating Department. (End) S.B.M./A.M.S.
