Moscow, October 21 (KUNA) -- Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced on Wednesday that the first tanker carrying 40,000 tons of Russian diesel fuel will depart for the United States tomorrow, expressing his country’s readiness to supply gas to Europe via the Nord Stream pipeline if European countries desire it. Russian news agency RIA Novosti quoted Novak as saying that the volume of diesel fuel supplies to other markets would depend on the production capacity of Russian refineries.
On the file of Russian-Chinese energy cooperation, Novak said that Moscow and Beijing expect to reach commercial agreements between Russia’s Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation regarding the Power of Siberia pipeline by the end of this year.
These remarks come as energy markets seek to cope with supply pressures and rising fuel prices, while Russia has resumed diesel exports to several markets following the easing of export restrictions in October. These developments indicate the continued use of fuel and gas supplies within Russia’s trade relations with the United States, Europe, and China, amid varying political and regulatory conditions surrounding each market.
